Bitcoin Sees Best Monthly Gain in a Year as S&P 500 Reaches New High

Bitcoin has finished April with its best monthly gain in a year, closing above $76,000 and preserving most of its monthly gains. However, the spotlight was stolen by the S&P 500, which reached a fresh all-time high. The S&P 500 broke through the 7,200-point barrier for the first time in history, driven by strong tech earnings from companies like Google and Apple.

The Bitcoin price has continued to rebound after the monthly close, with the BTC/USD pair eyeing $77,500 on Friday. Despite rising US inflation signs, risk assets have remained strong, with the S&P 500 adding over $8 trillion in market cap since hitting local lows at the end of March. The Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) index, the Federal Reserve's preferred inflation gauge, came in at 3.5% for March, its highest level since August 2023.

Bitcoin's gains, although less pronounced, have been notable, with the cryptocurrency seeing its highest monthly gains in a year at 11.9%. However, the monthly candle fell short of reclaiming key support lines, including the 21-week exponential moving average (EMA). Analysts warn that a retest of the mid-$60,000 zone on weekly time frames may be necessary for a full breakout confirmation. As the markets look to the future, all eyes will be on the next month's inflation data and the potential impact on the cryptocurrency and traditional markets.

The current market sentiment is one of cautious optimism, with many investors waiting to see how the situation unfolds. The strong tech earnings and the S&P 500's new high have boosted investor confidence, but the rising inflation and the Federal Reserve's potential response remain a concern. As the cryptocurrency market continues to evolve, it will be interesting to see how Bitcoin and other digital assets perform in the coming months.
